PAINT MATCH ADVICE SOUGHT

Postby jimmac » Sun Aug 14, 2011 11:28 am

Hi all
Building my collection of "classic" car kits and located a Jaguar Mk II which I wish to purchase. My problem (isn't there ALWAYS one? :x ) relates to the colour I wish to paint it - Jaguar "Regency Red" ONLY! During my research, I have been unable to locate any manufacturer's equivalent.

Does any member know of an equivalent or have a home-made formula?

Thanks in advance.

A million moons ago when I was foolish enough to have a Jag, I had occassion to have it resprayed in old English White. The panel beater / painter had a paint colour formula / mixing guidebook and was able to mix up the brew. Perhaps you can determine the formula for regency red this way to assist you in finding an equivalent / approximation.. or mix up many red swatches, find a red jag, hold the swatches against it and
find the closest and work on that!

It's a very common Jag colour. Your local auto paint supplier should be able to mix you a 200ml can of it in enamel.
I'm not older than dirt, but I do remember when it was new.

Lads, in a word - DOH!
My b-i-l is a panel-beater/spray-painter with his own business. Oh dear, oldheimers is catching me up.
