RAAF Mobile Control Tower

Postby Cyclops » Wed May 28, 2014 9:25 pm

I saw a RAAF Mack with a dog trailer on today going through town, but the container on the dog looked different. Anyway, as I drove to the servo to get fuel, bugger me, look what drove in before me. This is the first time I've seen one. It looks like a fair bit of thought went into designing them. It was a good looking bit of gear. So I helped myself to a few photos.

Hey cool pics!

Would've been nice if they'd assembled it for you! ;)

Sat inside one of these at Avalon last year - pretty impressive it was.

Sorry, no pics though.

Cheers,

I got to do all the models of these for the RAAF as well as Rhode & Swarchz who built them. The RAAF got three. We ended up doing 10 models which included 8 1:35 scale models, a 1:16 scale model and a 1:10 scale version which sits in their head office in Sydney. I still have one on display in the front window of our shop in Uralla.

We actually had two of them pass through town a year or so ago on their way up to Amberley. Being towed by Macks on a Saturday afternoon. I hoped they would stop but they kept on going :( Got to crawl all over one at Avalon a couple of years back.
