Hi tig I use plain old cheep masking tape and super glue first off you do them before you attach them to your aircraft .
Method : apply intake / exhaust with the end to be covered on to the sticky side of the masking tape then liberely coat the inside of the tape with CA glue wait to dry , then working on the outside cut a strip of tape to required width and apply around outside of intake exhaust trim first peice then coat exterior with thin coat of CA when dry lightly buff with nail buffer/sander then continue build and paint at end of build the colour of choise. attachment straps are done the same way but just a lot thiner strip matty can you throw up a pick of that f16 intake so thay can see what I mean .
