Introduction

Scott has completed a 1/48 scale model of one of the PR Spitfires flown by Australian acting legend Charles "Bud" Tingwell while serving in 680 Sqn RAF.  Scott's inspiration for the model came from reading Bud's story in "Flak" by Michael Veitch.  Ryan Hamilton was able to provide the serial for this particular aircraft.

Scott started with the Hasegawa VIII/IX kit.  Much has been written about the shortcomings of this kit, particularly the fuselage length.  However, the kit is a simple, fun built with nice detail and is certainly recognisable as a Spitfire!

To begin his conversion Scott sourced the PR "chin" from Ron's Resin, and a vacformed PR canopy.  Before adding these items, he removed the fighter armament and added the camera ports.

Decals came from several spares sources.

The end result is an eye catching model of a significant aircraft that captures a nice piece of Australian history.
