Introduction

To quote the packaging – ‘The Bristol (DAP) Beaufort family of aircraft were fitted with the RAF Air to Surface Vessel search radar (ASV) systems to improve their shipping strike capabilities.  The final version was the ASVII radar which was used with the underwing YAGI aerials by the RAF Coastal Command and a combination of YAGI aerials and fuselage aerials by the RAAF.  This set includes photo etched fuselage aerials and resin YAGI wing aerial bases’.

The Kit

Supplied in a clean zip lock bag are two cast resin YAGI antennae mounts for under the wings and one PE fret which contains the lateral antennae seen on the rear fuselage sides. A placement guide is included. Care will be needed in removing the casting blocks from the mounts. Some fine wire or plastic rod (not supplied) is then needed to replicate the aerials themselves on the underwing resin mounts. The PE for the lateral antennae is nicely done. These aerials are all cut separate on the fret and will need a steady hand for accurate placement on the model.  References will need to be consulted regarding which aircraft flew with what combination of antennae.

Conclusion

Recommended.
