Introduction

These sheets have a variety of styles and sizes to cover the different types of numbers as used by the RAAF and Army over time in all three colours. Each set comes packed in the usual yellow paper envelope with the see through front we have come to expect from Aussie Decals with two sheets of decals inside. Whilst these decals are described as being in three different scales, you could in fact use the numbers for a variety of different purposes depending on the size and style you are after. The set contains three different size numbers in 3 mm, 4.5 mm and 6.5 mm in height.Though there are only three sizes, the decals appear to be a number of sizes due to the different styles and thickness of the letters. There are three different styles supplied in each size, thin solid numbers, thick 'stencilled' numbers and thick solid numbers. Each type is supplied with four rows of numbers with four 'A's per line, so you end up with 16 'A's per size and style and four of each number. These sheets are a great addition to any modellers stash as they can be extremely useful if you need to change the serial number of the aircraft. The biggest problem I have with these types of generic sheets are that you only have four of each numbers per size and style. This problem was brought home to me when I made my Foilage green Mosquito with the serial number of A52-62. This one aircraft has essentialy stopped me from making any more aircraft with serial numbers containing the number '2'. Apart from this problem, the only other (minor) drama is how close some of the decals are printed to each other. You will need a steady hand and good eye to separate the smallest ones from the sheet without damaging the decals next to the one you are cutting out.

Recommendation

If you model Australian aircraft then these sets are for you. I have been waiting a long time for a decent set of Grey numerals and this is it.
