P-51K Mustang

1/48 P-51K A68-565 of 82 Squadron

by Matt Gilks

Serial No
A/C type
Based at
84 Squadron, Townsville, Queensland (circa July 1945).
NMF with black anti-glare strip. This aircraft suffered an engine failure on take off in August 1945 and was written off with the pilot-Sqn Ldr Cox escaping serious injury
Tamiya 1/48 scale, finished OOB with the exception of decals from the Hasegawa Mustang Mk IV.  NMF on fuselage, aluminium lacquer on wings using Tamiya spray lacquer. A pleasant kit to build without any major challenges. This kit was my first serious attempt at a NMF. The Tamiya spray cans are an excellent way to get a good NMF for a beginner to this type of finish
