The Melbourne Expo was conducted over the weekend 06 to 08 Jun 09 at Sandown racecourse. There was a record number of traders at the show and the second highest number of entries in the competition with 637 entries. There was even a record number of Airlilner models on display this year, in no small part to 'The other Ray (TOR) and his wording up of the airline modellers! With the reorganisation of the show the Swap and Sell was conducted on the floor above the display area and was a very popular event as the last few images on page four shows.
AMI was there during the weekend with the Model Art Australia Magazine crew but due to sickness I was unable to attend most of Sunday. I still managed to get to the dinner on Saturday night though. The AMI annual dinner was a roaring success this year with 24 people spending a great evening together meeting those that have only been known on the AMI Discussion Board. We also managed to have a few 'ring-in's' from Canberra and other areas that were greeted in the usual AMI manner.
A well run weekend was conducted by the Expo committe and I hope to be there next year as well.
